  • UX and Interactivity in VR

    CiroVRsmallThe year 2016 has been named ‘The Year of Virtual Reality’. In spite of this, we still don’t have a game that we can call the ‘killer application’ of VR. VR interaction is still unexplored territory, and we need to build a shared vocabulary of verbs and rules of interaction to be able to create VR games and experiences on another level.

  • The Swedish indie industry as seen from a cabin in the woods

    JanaWhy is the indie scene in Sweden so strong? Games like Minecraft, Goat Simulator and Device 6 all came from this small country in the north. In her talk Jana will tell the story of the Swedish independent game developers from the roots, until today. She will explain how Stugan, the Swedish accelerator in the woods, has helped catalyzing an already strong trend and how it is helping independent game developers in other countries.

    Jana Palm is a member of the 7th AzPlay International Festival of Independent Games’s panel of judges, and the director of Stugan, the Swedish video game accelerator.

  • 'Designing the video game of the future' round table

    The round table includes Koldo Gutierrez and Lara Sanchez Coterón, members of the AzPlay 2016 judge’s panel; Jon Cortazar, CEO of Relevo Videogames, and Arturo Monedero, creative director of Delirium Studios. Acting as moderator is Carlos González Tardón, founder of People & Videogames.

    The round will focus on the evaluation of the drawings previously created at the workshop Designing the video game of the future. This workshop is being held between November 7-18, after which 25 drawings will be selected to be displayed in the AzPlay exhibition space.

    The round table will use the evaluation of these drawings representing video games from the future created by secondary education, sixth form, and vocational training students as a starting point, and will serve as an excuse to talk about current and future trends in video gaming. In this informal environment, the audience is encouraged to participate.

  • Masterclass by Unity at Harrobia

    Ciro Continisio, Technical Evangelist from Unity, will give a masterclass atHarrobia Ikastola, the institution which delivers the Vocational Training Course in 3D Animation, games and interactive environments.

    Unity is one of the most popular engines for the development of video games and one of the tools used by students on the course. During the masterclass, Ciro Continisio will present the potential and possibilities of the tool in different contexts and projects. It’s a unique opportunity to learn about and deepen knowledge of Unity3D as a development tool.
