The process for selecting and determining the winners shall be as follows:
The jury shall carry out an initial assessment of all videogames entered, based exclusively on the audiovisual material provided by the participants in the entry form (images, video, or web). On the basis of this assessment, around 25 finalist videogames shall be selected which will then need to be presented during the ‘Official Section’ in order to qualify for receiving an award. In addition, the finalist videogames shall be exhibited at AlhóndigaBilbao during the hóPLAY festival so that they may be tried out by visitors.
After selecting the finalists, the jury will re-assess the videogames that have made it though to the final. This assessment shall be based on the use of each game, the presentations made at the ‘Official Section’, and the debates arising between the members of the jury. Finally the jury shall draw up the list of the winners of the
awards in the different categories.
The hóPLAY jury shall be appointed by the festival management and shall be composed of renowned professionals from within the videogames sector: creators, distributors, publishers, and players, and the jury may choose, should it consider it appropriate, not to make an award in any of the categories.
All works entered for this festival, whether or not they are selected, shall become a part of the hóPLAY documentary archive, although the said material may not be used by the organizers for profit.
Returning the entry form and participating in hóPLAY entail acceptance of these terms and conditions. The interpretation of these terms and conditions shall be the exclusive prerogative of the organizers of the festival and the jury.
