Submit your game to hóPLAY´14

Take part hóPLAY 2014 awards

International Festival of Independent Games hóPLAY and its Official Section aim to mainly highlight the work of those directly responsible for the creativity of the video game, as well as its educational and recreational nature: i.e. the authors and creators of developer companies and the independent genius.

It is precisely this latter aspect which is to be highlighted in this V edition. hóPLAY´14 will be spotlighting support for the independent video game sector, highlighting the fact that joining art and technology within the context of fostering business and exchanging knowledge may and does produce excellent results.

The hóPLAY Prizes are divided into 5 categories with €25,000 in prizes. Further information in the Terms and Conditions.

6. Selection
When selecting the videogames that are to compete for the awards, AlhóndigaBilbao shall reward above all those for which their creative nature transmits positive values and opposes any kind of aggression or discrimination.

The process for selecting and determining the winners shall be as follows:

The jury shall carry out an initial assessment of all videogames entered, based exclusively on the audiovisual material provided by the participants in the entry form (images, video, or web). On the basis of this assessment, around 25 finalist videogames shall be selected which will then need to be presented during the ‘Official Section’ in order to qualify for receiving an award. In addition, the finalist videogames shall be exhibited at AlhóndigaBilbao during the hóPLAY festival so that they may be tried out by visitors.

After selecting the finalists, the jury will re-assess the videogames that have made it though to the final. This assessment shall be based on the use of each game, the presentations made at the ‘Official Section’, and the debates arising between the members of the jury. Finally the jury shall draw up the list of the winners of the
awards in the different categories.

7. Jury
The hóPLAY jury shall be appointed by the festival management and shall be composed of renowned professionals from within the videogames sector: creators, distributors, publishers, and players, and the jury may choose, should it consider it appropriate, not to make an award in any of the categories.

8. Conditions
All works entered for this festival, whether or not they are selected, shall become a part of the hóPLAY documentary archive, although the said material may not be used by the organizers for profit.
Returning the entry form and participating in hóPLAY entail acceptance of these terms and conditions. The interpretation of these terms and conditions shall be the exclusive prerogative of the organizers of the festival and the jury.
