AzPlay 2017 participation grows 73%

The 8th edition of the International Festival of Independent Video Games: AzPlay, organized by Azkuna Zentroa, has received this year 432 proposals from 63 different countries. 182 more than in the previous year, which means a 72.8% increase in participation. The number of participating countries has also increased, from 47 to 63.

The Festival will be held between November 29 and December 3 in Azkuna Zentroa. AzPlay is already an inescapable reference for professionals of the indie sector, amateurs from all over the world and local companies that want to give visibility and notoriety to their works.

Spain is the country with the largest number of submitted video games (87). In second position is Iran (35), followed by United States (30) and United Kingdom (29). This is the eighth edition of this festival that has gained popularity over the years. More than 40,000 people have participated in all its editions and have received about 1,200 projects from 5 continents.

The jury will now choose from all proposals the final video games and the selection will be presented on October 10.

The festival consists of five categories that opt ​​for prize: Best Original Idea, Best Visual Art, Best Sound-Music, Best Gameplay and Best Basque Video Game. All of them with an economic endowment of 5,000 euros. In addition, among the final video games, several video games will be chosen to participate in the Nordic Game Discovery Contest 2018.

AzPlay 2017 is the meeting point between local and foreign creators for the exchange of knowledge and experiences; but also the place where the public can experiment with the most creative and innovative video games in the international Indie scene.
