158 projects have signed up for the sixth edition of AzPlay, the International Festival of Independent Games organized by Azkuna Zentroa.
The videogames are from 30 countries dotted over the 5 continents: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Denmark, the US, Spain, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, India, Ireland, Mexico, New Zealand, Romania, Russia, Senegal, Singapore, South Korea, the UK, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, the Netherlands, Ukraine, Poland and Republic of Argentina. Half the projects are from Spain, 14 of which have been presented by Basque developers.
A jury made up of leading figures from the world of “Indie” videogames, specialized media, industry and academics will judge these videogames, and the list of finalists will be published on 31st October. The final decision will be announced at the Award Gala to be held at Azkuna Zentroa Auditorium on 27th November. Five awards each with a monetary value of 5,000 euros will be awarded to the following Competition Categories: best original idea, best creative design, best sound-music, best playability; and best Basque videogame.
AzPlay (previously hóPLAY) has become consolidated as the international reference for the promotion of new projects, awarding prizes every year to the most original, creative and innovative independent videogames of the moment.
This year, AzPlay will be taking place in the Bilbao Bizkaia Design Week which will be held at the end of November, and will be the “Indie” section of the Fun&Serious Game Festival, to complement this event with international fame.
